a. Bulk in Shipping, Break Bulk Cargo or General Cargo
We're using the terms bulk in shipping, break bulk cargo or general cargo to describe the goods that must be loaded individually and not in intermodal containers. The ships that are carrying these types of goods are called general cargo ships.
The break bulk term ofter refers to those goods that can be unloaded individually or in small increments from the ship and do not require cargo containers. These goods are usually transported in boxes, crates, drums, bags or barrels secured to pallets.
b. Bulk Cargo
The term refers to those type of goods that are transported unpackaged in large quantities. Such goods are called commodity cargo and are regularly in liquid ir granulate form such as grains, coal, petroleum or gravel.
Even if all the goods listed can be transported in smaller boxes, they are still being called "Bulk Cargo" due to the classification of the material (liquid or dry).

Hazardous Cargos refer to those goods that are considered highly dangerous for those who transport it. Any flammable materials, explosives and other such items are included in the "Hazardous Cargo" category.
